Goldenwest Completes Operating Systems Integration with Recently Merged Healthcare Credit Union

OGDEN, UT: May 1, 2017 – Goldenwest Credit Union has announced the completion of the operating system integration with recently merged Healthcare Credit Union. The merger between the two organizations has resulted in a combined 37 branches, 120,000 members and $1.3 billion in assets.

With the operating system integration, Healthcare Credit Union members now have full access to their accounts at all Goldenwest branches as well as online and mobile platforms. Likewise, Goldenwest members can access their accounts and receive services at any Healthcare Credit Union office.

“We congratulate everyone involved at Goldenwest and Healthcare Credit Unions for their diligence and hard work throughout the operating systems merger process,” stated Kerry H. Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “We gladly welcome all Healthcare Credit Union members and employees to our Goldenwest family.”

Last fall, Goldenwest and Healthcare Credit Unions publicly announced their intent to merge. Following approval from regulators and Healthcare Credit Union members, the two credit unions officially merged and combined financial data on January 1, 2017.

Plans for the extensive integration of data between the two organizations began seven months ago. Employees and consultants proactively worked to provide a smooth transition of accounts, products and services for Healthcare Credit Union members to the Goldenwest operating system.

Although the operating systems have merged, the name “Healthcare Credit Union” has been retained by the organization at the branch locations on South Temple in Salt Lake City, in Murray, and at the six branches located in Intermountain Healthcare facilities. The updated logo includes “a Goldenwest Company” in the design.

“Healthcare Credit Union has a strong and long-standing association with Intermountain Healthcare,” added Wahlen. “Goldenwest will continue to carry on the tradition of serving members affiliated with Intermountain Healthcare and the healthcare community.”

This is the second credit union Goldenwest has merged-in to their organization in recent years. In October 2013, Goldenwest and Logan-based USU Credit Union officially merged with their operating system integration taking place in March of the following year. In a similar fashion to Healthcare Credit Union in Salt Lake County, the USU Credit Union name was retained for branches in Cache Valley. USU Credit Union operates as a division of Goldenwest.
