Unlike banks, credit unions return profits to their members rather than stockholders, which allows us to offer better rates and lower fees. While credit unions pay property, sales, and payroll taxes, they are exempt from federal income tax—ensuring financial benefits go directly to members.

Taxing credit unions would strip away a vital financial lifeline for millions of Americans, including Utahns and Idahoans. Protecting our tax-exempt status preserves lower loan rates, higher savings yields, and essential free services that credit union members rely on.
