Goldenwest Wins Work/Life Award

The Department of Workforce Services has named Goldenwest Credit Union has one of Utah’s “Best Places to Work” for the second consecutive year. Goldenwest received the 2010 Work/Life Award in the mid-size company category for building a corporate culture in which their employees can succeed professionally and personally.

More than 200 nominated companies were judged on their corporate culture and philosophy in regards to helping employees maintain a healthy balance regarding work and personal life issues.

“Raising morale is the best way to improve the bottom line,” said Lynette Rasmussen, director of the department’s Office of Work and Life. “It increases productivity. If someone isn’t worried about other parts of their life, they focus on the task at hand. They use time wisely. They offer suggestions to improve the business, knowing their employers will listen. They’re loyal.”

Despite the economic environment that last two years, Goldenwest has continued to offer its employees excellent personal and family benefits. The credit union’s top executive says that Goldenwest’s strength and stability is due to the dedication of their workforce.

“At Goldenwest, we subscribe to the philosophy of ‘what goes around comes around’,” said Shelley B. Clarke, Goldenwest President/CEO. “If we take great strides in caring for our employees, then they will go the extra mile to take care of our members and organization.”

Clarke noted that a positive corporate culture is always a work in progress. “We are constantly reviewing our benefit package and workplace policies to ensure we are providing employees with the tools and resources they need for a productive work environment,” continued Clarke.

Goldenwest has 238 employees at their 18 branch offices and corporate center.
