Goldenwest Launches Mobile Banking App for Android

Goldenwest Credit Union recently launched an Android app that will allow its members to conduct many everyday account transactions with their personal mobile device.

The Android app is the latest free mobile banking application developed by Goldenwest for online account access. The credit union previously launched free mobile banking apps for Blackberry, iPhone and iPad.

"Mobile banking allows our members to access their accounts at home, at work or on-the-go," said Diana Windley, assistant vice president of marketing.

As applications for mobile devices continue to grow at a rapid pace, the availability of mobile banking is fast becoming an expectation for mobile phone users.

According to a quarterly report released by ComScore Mobile Financial Advisor, nearly 30 million Americans – or 1 in 10 – accessed financial services accounts via their mobile device in Q4 2010, an increase of 54% in 12 months.

Goldenwest Credit Union follows this trend closely with 10.5% of their members enrolling in their mobile banking program since it was first introduced 18 months ago.

"Mobile banking is part of our overall strategy to actively engage our members in the process of managing their personal finances," continue Windley. "While PCs and laptops aren't always readily available for online account access, people keep their mobile devices close-at-hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."

With Mobile Banking, Goldenwest members may check account balances, transfer funds, view transaction history, and locate the nearest branch or ATM. Goldenwest Credit Union also offers account access via SMS text messaging.

Founded in 1936, Goldenwest has more than 81,000 members and $771 million in assets. The credit union is headquartered in Ogden, and has eighteen branches in Weber, Davis, Morgan, Salt Lake, Utah, and Washington counties.
