Goldenwest Honored with "Large Business of the Year" Award
Ogden, UT: March 26, 2024 – The Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce recently honored Goldenwest Credit Union with the “Large Business of the Year” award during the 2024 Annual Gala held at Peery’s Egyptian Theatre. Goldenwest’s President/CEO, Kerry Wahlen, accepted the award on behalf of the Credit Union.
“Goldenwest stands out as a locally owned and operated credit union that is committed to the financial well-being of its members and employees,” stated Wahlen. “At the heart of Goldenwest beats the philosophy of ‘People Helping People,’ a guiding principle that has defined our mission for 88 years.”
The history of Goldenwest Credit Union in Weber County goes back nearly nine decades. Originally founded as the Ogden Railway and Depot Company Employees Federal Credit Union in 1936, members voted in 1984 to change the name to Goldenwest with a vision to expand the Credit Union to serve members in multiple industries and geographic locations.
“We are grateful to the Ogden-Weber Chamber for everything they do to support our local businesses, including Goldenwest Credit Union,” added Wahlen. “Weber County is a prime location to live, work, and grow.”
As Goldenwest Credit Union marks 88 years of service this year, it is thriving with assets exceeding $3 billion. With a commitment to retain its headquarters in Weber County, Goldenwest hit a significant milestone in the fall of 2023 with the grand opening of a new five-level, 100,000 square foot Corporate Center located in Washington Terrace. The Credit Union is honored to serve 185,000 members with a team of 750 dedicated professionals at 50 branch offices across Utah and Idaho.
