Goldenwest Credit Union Welcomed To Brigham City

Goldenwest Credit Union Welcomed To Brigham City

BRIGHAM CITY, UT: November 5, 2014 – Goldenwest marked the official grand re-opening of their credit union office with a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this week. The branch is located at 1120 South Main in Brigham City in the building that has been occupied by USU Credit Union for the past six years. In October 2013, USU Credit Union merged with Goldenwest.

The merger is unique in that USU Credit Union has retained its brand identity and continues to operate four branches in Cache Valley as a division of Goldenwest. The Brigham City office is the only branch that converted the brand name from USU Credit Union to Goldenwest Credit Union.

“With the merger, it was very important to us to continue operating our branches with the USU Credit Union brand,” said Kerry H. Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “However, in Box Elder County we discovered that we had more Goldenwest members than USU Credit Union members. After much research and debate, we made the decision to rebrand the Brigham City office as a Goldenwest branch.”

Wahlen is quick to point out that all USU Credit Union members will continue to be served at the Goldenwest office.

“The merger has brought about an expanded branch network for our entire combined membership,” continued Wahlen. “It’s been thrilling for us to serve Goldenwest members at our USU Credit Union branches in Cache Valley, and assist USU Credit Union members at our Goldenwest branches from Brigham City all the way down to St George.”

Goldenwest Credit Union board members and officers joined in celebration with credit union employees and members to officially re-open the office. Also participating in the events was Perry City Mayor Karen Cronin and Brigham City Council Member Thomas Peterson. The Brigham City Area Chamber of Commerce, led by Monica Holdaway, helped welcome Goldenwest to the local business community.

Goldenwest Branch Manager and Box Elder County resident Jared Steed will oversee all branch activity and originate mortgages from the office. Steed has been employed by Goldenwest for over four years, and previously worked as branch manager at the Provo branch and assistant manager at the Providence branch.

The full-service Brigham City branch includes mortgage and loan officers, four teller stations, two drive-thru lanes, and a 24-hour drive-thru CO-OP Network ATM. The branch will also serve members of other credit unions as part of the CO-OP Shared Branch Network.
