Goldenwest Credit Union Named “Best of State”
SALT LAKE CITY—May 14, 2013: Goldenwest Credit Union was recently honored as the 2013 Utah “Best of State” winner in the credit union category. This is the sixth consecutive year Goldenwest has received the medal. The Utah Best of State Awards Program acknowledges excellence in an extensive range of industry sectors including business, education, hospitality, retail, and technology. More than 200 category winners were acknowledged in this program that is dedicated to recognizing and promoting outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout Utah.
“Every time Goldenwest wins the Best of State medal, we are re-energized to become even stronger in fulfilling our purpose as a not-for-profit financial cooperative,” said Kerry H. Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “This state-wide recognition not only acknowledges our allegiance to our members and employees, but also helps demonstrate our commitment to play a vital and positive role within the communities we serve.”
According to chief executive officer Dana Layton, winners of the 2013 Best of State Awards were rated and judged on their impact on the community; excellence and achievement within their industry; and, innovation and originality. Each nomination was judged on its own merits and was not ranked against other nominees in the same category by the judges. Ballots were directly mailed to a certified public accounting firm, where they tabulate the scores for accuracy. Best of State medal winners were announced to the public, and award recipients were recognized during the formal Awards Gala presentation in Salt Lake City on May 11, 2013.
