The Shelley B. Clarke Building

Goldenwest Corporate Office Named Shelley B. Clarke Building

OGDEN, UT: January 12, 2012 – In tribute to 37 years of dedicated service, Goldenwest Credit Union recently named their corporate office the Shelley B. Clarke Building. Clarke retired from Goldenwest as President/CEO on December 31, 2011.

Goldenwest Chairman Bill Hart surprised Clarke with the announcement during a special Goldenwest event in her honor. The new name on the building was revealed in front of several hundred people, including board members, staff, and members of Clarke’s family.

Clarke started her Goldenwest career serving members behind the teller line in 1974. She whole-heartedly embraced the credit union philosophy as she quickly moved into new accounts and loans. During her tenure, Clarke held or managed almost every position in the credit union. The knowledge gained from her experience greatly assisted Goldenwest in establishing best practices for operations, systems, marketing, and management. Clarke’s strong work ethic and can-do attitude, combined with her Weber State and CUNA Management School education, helped pave a successful career path at the credit union. Clarke was named Vice President in 1983, Executive Vice President in 1990, and President/CEO in 2001.

“It has been my greatest honor and privilege to be associated with Goldenwest during the last 37 years,” reflected Clarke. “As a credit union, we have always tried to do the right things for the right reasons. We measure our success in providing maximum return to our members and the communities we serve. We invite everyone to join the Goldenwest Credit Union family, and enjoy the benefits of being a member.”

Founded in 1936, Goldenwest serves more than 83,000 members, holds $780 million in assets, and operates 18 branches throughout Utah with offices in Weber, Morgan, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Washington Counties.
