Donations Exceed $40,000 For Local Schools

As the school year came to a close last week, Goldenwest Credit Union presented checks to nine local schools during student assemblies. The donations are the results of efforts by students, principals, PTA volunteers and credit union employees during the 11th Annual Goldenwest 5K For Schools held March 26th.

"There is such an exciting feeling when we go into the local schools and present the 5K checks," said Shelley Clarke, Goldenwest President/CEO. "Every dollar of the 5K registration fees goes directly back to the schools for the benefit of the students and teachers."

Approximately 2,100 people registered for the 11th Annual 5K For Schools. In addition to donating the registration fees to the schools, Goldenwest adds $5 for person who registers and participates in the 5K. More than $40,000 in cash and in-kind donations have been awarded to the nine schools and the Weber School Foundation.

Goldenwest donates hundreds of hours of employee along with t-shirts and supplies so that 100% of the registration fees can go to benefit the schools. The schools use the funds to purchase much needed equipment and materials for the schools, and to support a variety of programs including athletics, the arts, media centers, field trips and classroom activities.
