The Only Thing Constant Is Change
August 1, 2013
In 1984, Goldenwest ventured outside of Weber County and opened the first branch located in Davis County. Today, we have six offices in Davis County with branches in Clinton, Clearfield, Layton, Kaysville, Centerville and I’m excited to say ‘now in Bountiful’. With the Bountiful branch opening on August 2nd, we have 21 branch offices across Utah. I invite you to visit this beautiful, full-service office located at 2085 Orchard Drive.
Last month we publicly stated our intent to merge with USU Credit Union. We are continuing with the merger application process, and hope to soon announce that the merger has been officially approved by the NCUA. With the addition of the five USU Credit Union offices, Goldenwest members will have access to 26 branches from a few miles south of the Idaho border in Smithfield, Utah to the scenic red rocks of St George. Likewise, USU Credit Union members will have access to all 26 branches plus 5,000 locations nationwide through the credit union shared branch network.
I have spent a great deal of time in Cache Valley over the last few months, and have gained a healthy appreciation for what Utah State University means to the community. At Goldenwest, we are committed that USU Credit Union will carry-on as a financial institution established to serve the students, faculty, staff and supporters of Utah State. Furthermore, we look forward to expanding USU Credit Union’s portfolio of products and services to provide greater financial opportunities for local members, families and businesses.
On a different note, I express my appreciation to Tony Reynolds for serving on our volunteer Board of Directors. Not only is he a well-respected member of the community, he has become a good friend. Tony has stepped-down from the Board to fulfill other obligations. As a result, the Board of Directors has appointed Dan Musgrave to fill the vacated position on the Board. Dan has been serving as a volunteer on the Supervisory Committee, and is a life-long Goldenwest member. I am confident Dan will carry out his new responsibilities in an attentive and steadfast manner. Thanks Dan!
In addition to my blog, I like to share the latest news about Goldenwest via “tweets” on my Twitter handle Twitter @GoldenwestCUCEO. I look forward to receiving your comments at my email address president@gwcu.org.
