One of the largest charitable races in Utah, the Goldenwest 5k For Schools just completed its 15th year of raising money for Weber District Schools and the Weber School Foundation. One-hundred percent of the registration fees, as well as a match from Goldenwest Credit Union are used to support a variety of school programs including arts, athletics, field trips, media centers, and classroom activities. Goldenwest also volunteers significant time and resources to make this race an annual success. More than $400,000 for local schools has been raised in the last 15 years of the 5K fundraiser.

Sabrina Sandry, coordinator for the event says it's more than just a fundraiser. "Not only is this a way that we can support and give back to our local schools, but it's also a fun event for Goldenwest employees and the community. We have people come from all over the Wasatch Front to support our fundraising efforts. It's awesome on the day of the race to see hundreds of people gather together to show their support."

This year, the 5k drew a crowd of over 1,700 participants and raised over $19,400 for Weber County Schools.

Including the donations matched by Goldenwest, the following schools will be receiving:

Riverdale Elementary: $625
H Guy Child Elementary: $2,655
South Ogden Jr. High: $1,745
Bonneville: $2,635
TH Bell Jr. High: $1,165
Roosevelt: $775
Marlon Hills: $805
Uintah: $3,145
Washington Terrace: $2,440
Club Heights: $845
Weber School Foundation: $2,565

Congratulations to our first place runner, Garrett Barton, with a time of fifteen minutes and twenty seconds! Thank you to all of our participants for making this event a success. You can visit Goldenwest's Website to see all of the finishing times and placements.
